Anatase Crystal with Pointed Chlorine included Quartz
Ghatt mine, Kharan, Baluchistan Province, Pakistan
The name Anatase is derived from the Greek word ‘anatasis’ which means elongation, in illusion to its elongated crystal habit. It’s a relatively uncommon yet very aesthetic form of titanium dioxide as it forms distinct & unique crystals, which usually microscopic up to very small, though few localities have produced larger crystals. It is polymorphous with more common minerals like Rutile and Brookite.
This particular specimen featuring well crystalized double-terminated prismatic huge-size Anatase crystal. It’s highly striated with sharp and well-modified horizontal striations, which shows the quality of the crystal. It has an amazing intergrown modification on the crystal surface with zero damage. Furthermore, it exhibits well-pointed terminated chlorine included quartz crystals shooting out of termination with nice detailed white albite. Indeed a very aesthetic and beautiful piece for collection!
